Cypress
Alexander the Great completed his conquest of the Achaemenid Empire in 330 BCE and declared himself the rightful King of Persia. During his conquest, he encountered many plants of the East that he sent back to the Mediterranean for cultivation. One of these plants, a 65+ foot tall evergreen that can live for over 500 years as a symbol of immortality, cypress now covers the landscapes across southern European countries.
The word "Citrus" also comes from a combination of the Latin Citrum, from the timber of cypress, and Cedrus, the name for Juniper. Limonene is the main molecular component of Citrus scents, so it's no wonder it contributes to Cypress's alongside the evergreen staples, Cedrol and Pinene.
