Geranium Blueprint

The "male rose" of perfumery that contributes to the heart note of a classic Fougère. Roudnitska used it in Mustache back in 1949, for Rochas. Bourdon even used a trace amount in Cool Water by Davidoff. You'll also find it in Guy Robert's Dior creation, Dioressence, where it makes up a whopping 5%.

Here's the blueprint for what makes it smell the way it does.

Take note, Citronellol shouldn't be confused with Cintronellal—the classic bug spray molecule (and flower the molecule is named after). The alcohol (ol on the end) is a little more floral and less astringent than its aldehyde (al on the end) family member.
