Natural Orris Materials in Perfumery

Irones are the molecules found in the rhizomes of Iris roots. When aged, we call these roots "orris." There are a handful of different methods used to extract Irones. Butter and Resin being the most common.

In the original Dior Homme, Orris Absolute was used. Today, it's been reduced to a simple mixture of Ionones (a violet constituent and cousin of the Irones).
